Bali Spa – the escape from the city

Bali Spa, Cornu

I am definitely a spa girl. Spa, wellness, retreat or whatever you want to call it! I have been really fortunate to try so many types of spas in my life, in many places on this globe. So I can certainly say I know a thing or two about this 😉 .

Did  you notice how all spa centres names are very enticing? They are simply calling you to them …

So…Bali Spa!  It immediately made me think of the lush landscape of Ubud, the smell of incense everywhere, the thousands of temples adorned with beautiful flowers, the beautiful frangipani flowers (my favourite flowers by the way). How can you say no to this?

Bali Spa is situated about 80km from Bucharest, in a very picturesque village called Cornu (“The horn”).  The nature has been very generous with this area, giving it some of its best. The moment you arrive, you can feel so far away from the city, from its noise and the from the craziness of life in general. At Bali Spa, you find yourself in a blissful isolation.

As in every Asian inspired spa, you are welcomed everywhere by buddha statues. And together with the rest of the decoration and the very warm and pleasant attitude of the staff, help you disconnect instantly.

The rooms

Rooms at Bali Spa are very cozy. They do not intend to be luxurious, but rather a bit exotic, with some Balinese influences, relaxing and comfortable. You will immediately get that “feel good” feeling as soon as you enter! Our room also had a little balcony which was another plus.

However you don’t really need a balcony as the spa is in the middle of an orchard where you can relax, have a walk , read a book, meditate (if you wish) or…just BE!

The spa

There is a wide choice for massages and you can choose either individual ones or packages.  They even have one masseur from Bali. Being there the first time, I chose him for my massage as I wanted to compare with my experience in Bali (which reminds me….at some point I have to write a post about that as well). I chose a hot stone massage and the only regret I had was that it didn’t last for 2 hours! Tempos ( that’s the Balinese masseur’s name) did a very good job and I can highly recommend him.

The massage rooms are very relaxing and decorated with Balinese influence.

The restaurant

You can come here just for massage, for a night,  for a weekend getaway or even more if you need to, but no matter how long you come for, you will probably (and you should) stay for a meal.  Yes, they have some Indonesian specialities on the menu, if you really want to try, but do not leave without trying the grilled trout!!! We even took some home with us. It was so good that I had it twice in two days, and both times I forgot to take a picture.

The staff is also incredibly nice and helpful and they are ready to cater to your ever need.

There is also an indoor heated pool and although not too big, it can still satisfy a relaxing swimming need.

If , for some reason, you cannot make it to Cornu, but still want to experience some of their treatments, there is also a smaller Bali Spa centre at the Radisson hotel in Bucharest.
